Free, open-source Notepad replacements for Microsoft Windows

Microsoft Notepad is an awful program for a variety of reasons. Here is a list of free, open-source Notepad replacements for Windows:

Notepad++
Notepad++ is my preferred replacement for Notepad on Windows XP. It has the most features of any editor listed here, and it is just an awesome program. One advantage of Notepad++ over the editors listed below is that you can open up multiple text files in tabs.
Notepad2
Notepad2 is a simple Notepad replacement that might be a good option for people who find the number of options in Notepad++ overwhelming.
SciTE
SciTE requires editing of the configuration files to get it running optimally, but it's an excellent program for editing text and performing tasks like converting line endings from one type to another (e.g., from CR to LF).

I know that there are many more great text editing programs, but the programs listed above were chosen because they are basic Notepad replacements with the typical "Notepad" look and feel.
